A Makeup Review: Beautycounter

Happy Saturday! I hope the week has been treating you well! Today I thought it would be fun to do something different! A Beauty Review, this time last year I was talking to a former client/beauty-counter consultant about what she does. I knew some information about the company she works for and she wanted to know if I was interested in trying it out. Sadly, around that time I had to pass on her offer because I was saving up money to move. Since then I’ve seen their products featured on goop.com and in Allure magazine, I was feeling the urge to buy and try. So I did the buy, it came in the mail and today I tried.

I purchased their Flawless in Five, which included their concealer, Brilliant Brow, powder blush, volumizing mascara, and a shimmer lipgloss. In addition to the F.I.F. I also purchased their new Skin Twin Foundation. Some information about what each product claims to be starting with base;

Skin Twin: Purchased in the shade Light 230. “A featherweight, breathable foundation infused with skin-care-level Hyaluronic Acid to help reveal a smooth, hydrated, even complexion. With color-true hydrophobic pigments, you’ll achieve long-wearing, buildable coverage with a seamless, second-skin finish.”

Touchup Concealer Pen: In Fair. “Dark circles, and other imperfections are no match for this buildable, medium-coverage concealer. In addition to providing flawless coverage, it’s formulated with knotgrass extract to reduce the appearance of fine lines and photoaging so skin looks firmer, brighter, and instantly more even. The click-pen design and brush applicator make it easy to apply just the right amount exactly where you need it.”

Satin Powder Blush: In the shade Nectar, which is a dupe for the NARS Blush in the shade Orgasm “This silky powder blush blends seamlessly to create the natural flush.”

Volumzing Mascara: “Made with safer ingredients, this advanced increases volume by 385% for fuller more dramatic lashes. Its unique hourglass brush lifts and curls each lash.”

Brilliant Brow: “Groom your brows and get a natural tint with our light-hold formula made with conditioning plant-based waxes and butters.”

And finally to top everything off and literally top everything off, Lip Gloss: “A moisturizing Lip Gloss that goes on smoothly-with no stickiness. Its unique teardrop applicator delivers the perfect amount of sheer, infinitely wearable color and subtle shine.”

I was very impressed with the Skin Twin foundation and the Touchup concealer, I applied a light layer of each, normally I like to set with powder but this foundation, concealer duo set itself, no powder. About two hours of wear my natural oils were coming through and it just got better. It didn’t feel like anything was on my face! With other products I get creasing around my nose or redness around my mouth and had no issues whatsoever! The powder blush was fabulous too. For me blush is always the first thing to come off, but at the end of the day I still had blush on my cheeks. I am obsessed with the Lip Gloss it has a very creamy consistency, not gooey what so ever, and had a beautiful shimmer. Their Brilliant Brow was okay, I’m a huge fan of brow mascaras but this one was just. I will give it credit that my eyebrows still felt like hair and not like I had makeup on them. Finally the volumizing mascara, not for me. I would recommend to someone that either doesn’t really wear a whole lot of mascara or to one that wants a more subtle look.

I’m so glad I finally tried Beautycounter products, I did get a couple other products that if you want a separate review, Overall I was really happy with some of the products. Cheers! To kicking 1,500 harmful or questionable ingredients out of my everyday beauty routine.
